Myimbarr Cultural Advisor

The Cultural Advisor is responsible for developing individual cultural plans for child or young persons (CYP) in the care of Myimbarr as well as providing support and guidance to case workers with respect to integrating the Cultural Plan in to the Case Plan, ensuring the Cultural Plan is implemented and the ongoing development of the plan.  The Cultural Advisor supports case workers to ensure carers and family maintain and strengthen the child or young person’s (CYP) cultural identify.  When an Aboriginal child or young person CYP enters out-of-home care they must have a cultural plan that keeps them connected to their family, community and Country. A cultural plan is part of the overall Care Plan for an Aboriginal CYP. The Cultural Plan strengthens the CYP’s cultural identity, links to community and builds knowledge of family and cultural history.  Cultural plans are living documents requiring ongoing review responding to the needs and aspirations of the CYP, as more information is obtained and the connection to culture and family develops.
